Smart Phone

I get inspired by many things, for example: good music, movies, art
pieces, graffiti, and videos. I get it from everywhere. In the last few days
I've been getting inspired by the song, "Honesty," by Pink Sweat$. It's a really good mood for me.

Do Trees Heal People?

I have always studied and loved fine art, and spent many
years creating colored pencil drawings on wood before I decided to
pursue a career in illustration.

I love working digitally and designing
environments, and I am currently working towards becoming a visual
development artist for theme parks, games and animation.

Many things inspire my work. I spend a lot of time traveling and
learning about new cultures, stories, environments and art. Architecture and lighting often inspire my work, as I like to depict
interesting perspectives and lighting focal points in my pieces.
I spend a lot of time looking at work by 20th century illustrators and
artists. I look up to them for their usage of color,
lighting, composition and storytelling, and try to implement those
things into my own pieces.

Character Design: Futuristic Hero

I’m a freelance illustrator and concept artist currently living in
Seattle, WA. I was born to an Ethiopian father and a Chinese mother in
Los Angeles, California. I’ve worked mostly on small game-related
projects with my most recent notable works featured in Ubisoft’s Beyond
Good and Evil 2.

Game Project: Particle Rush - Environment Concepts

A steady diet of film, animation, comics, and video games were very
influential in developing my artistic tastes during my early life. I found
myself totally hooked on all the fascinating concepts and eye-popping
imagery there was to explore and experience!

Among my most cherished
influences is Todd McFarlane’s Spawn series, which blew my mind with its raw,
gritty style. Also, Shirow Masamune’s meticulous work on mechanical
concepts had me mesmerized in Ghost in the Shell.

Origination, Mastery, Spirituality

My multidimensional education in both art and medicine has brought about
diverse views to my creative work. Some of my works introduce the rich art and culture of ancient and modern China, some care
about health education for the public, and others reflect the major issues of today’s world.

I hope my
work can bring some new perspectives that help to enhance people’s
perception and understanding of different cultures, different
populations (immigrants, senior citizens, people with mental health
issues, etc) and our planet.

Learn Poetry with Mom - Children's Book

I am a museum person and have loved traditional Chinese painting
and calligraphy since an early age. The beauty of traditional
Chinese book binding also greatly inspired my work, as I believe the
essence of those older techniques can be well adapted to modern design.

Moreover, the masters of
modern design such as Paul Rand and Shigeo Fukuda also deeply influenced
me with their remarkable work and philosophies.
