Art for All: Celebrate Diversity in DesignVolume 25

Welcome back to our Diversity in Design series on Envato Tuts+. Discover three talented artists with inspiring styles you'll love.

4 Artists You Should Know: Diversity in Design

Celebrate
the work of these extraordinary artists. Each with their own unique
background, they draw inspiration from their culture and surroundings to
create phenomenal designs.

Shaylin Wallace

Our first feature belongs to Shaylin Wallace, a skilled photographer and digital artist living in Delaware.

Find more in her portfolio and follower her on Instagram.

Raise the Roots

I'm currently entering my junior year this fall at
Salisbury University pursuing my BFA in Graphic Design. As a digital
artist, I specialize in photo-manipulation. I have a passion for
creating surrealistic, yet minimal compositions by combining and editing
stock photos in Adobe Photoshop.

Elefish

As a photographer, I specialize in
portraiture and creating uniquely themed photo shoots. Not only do I love making
art for myself, but for others as well. I love working with other
creatives and bringing their visions and ideas to life.

Recently, I realized my
artwork unknowingly depicted a deep, emotional part of myself that I
cannot express with words. I'm inspired by creating surrealistic
scenes that no one has created and having viewers double-take at
my work, wondering if it's really real.

Leap of Faith

I
really look up to Salvador Dali when it comes to my love for the
surrealism art style. What I loved the most about his work was how
realistic his paintings looked even though they were surreal. His work
opened up a whole new passion of mine that I didn't know I had. Ever
since then, I've been a surrealism-based artist who loves to
create the impossible.

Saige + Ivy - Replenish Scrub

Most of my work is inspired by my struggles with mental illness -
anxiety, depression, PTSD—and navigating a painful divorce.

Original Cameo

My favorite styles of art are the ones that are a combination—a clearly illustrative style, but with just a touch of "cartoonish"-ness.
In terms of old artists, El Greco and Caravaggio are my favorites, and
my favorite modern artist is Fanch Ledan.

Mimosa Viljanen

Our final feature belongs to illustrator and motion designer, Mimosa Viljanen. Originally from Finland, she now creates stunning digital illustrations and charismatic animations while living in Brussels.

Autumn

I am completely incapable of not
illustrating something new all the time, which gives me a hard time
handling 3+ personal projects & work, all at once, at all times. I
recently graduated from the College of Advertising and Design (CAD) in
Brussels with a master's degree in motion design and UX. Ever since I've
been working in a communications
agency in Antwerp, Allyens.

Customer Journey Illustrations

I'd like to think that the inspiration behind my work is simply
visual—I see something, I like it, it inspires/challenges me and so I
go for it. Lately I've noticed it's more than this - whenever I finish
an illustration it tells me a story. It could simply be that those
stories are personal to me, and others don't see them. You be the
judge.

Samira

I am often times inspired by various digital illustrators as much as
people who practice traditional drawing. Tattoo art is also a big
source of inspiration for me. Mostly people that
aren't so known.
