How to Make a Church Event Flyer (Using a Flyer Maker)

Whether you need to create youth group flyers, Bible study flyers, or a church flyer for a fundraiser, the Placeit Flyer Maker provides you with a wonderful selection of church flyer templates and church event flyer templates that are super easy to customise and will help you make your own flyer in a matter of minutes. Let me show you how.

How to Make a Church Event Flyer using the Placeit Flyer Maker

Step 1

Navigate to Placeit and sign up for FREE!

Then click on Designs in the header menu.

Select Flyer Maker in the sub-menu.

Type "church flyer" in the search bar, and you will see a wide selection of beautiful flyer templates to choose from.

Go to Placeit - Designs - Flyer Maker - Type Church Flyer in Search Bar

Step 2

Look through the selection until you find one you like the most. The flyer you choose doesn’t have to be a template for a church flyer; it just needs to be a design you like. You will turn it into a church flyer template in the next steps.

Step 3

Click the flyer template you like, and it will open in the Placeit flyer generator. I chose the Church Service Flyer Maker.

You can start to customise your flyer using any of the controls, but I like to start by selecting the background. So go to the lower right side of the flyer creator and choose an image for the background of your flyer. I’m going to create a flyer for a Bible study event, so I’ll choose a photo that reflects that.

Note that if you want to upload your own photo, this is where you can do so by clicking on Custom image. Alternatively, you can elect not to use a photo by selecting ‘no image’ and choosing instead a beautiful colour for your background.

Begin customisation by selecting a background photo

Moving to the area above the background photo, you can select a religious symbol to use in your design. The default image for this church event flyer template is a Bible, and you can use the default, use no image, or upload your own symbol. Since the photo I’ve chosen already contains a Bible, I’ll select a different symbol, the dove of peace.

Now you can select a colour for the dove from the panel above the graphics, but let’s leave the colour at its default colour of white for now.

Now we move to the badges. As you'll have noticed, there’s a circular badge around the words ‘Come Holy Spirit’. You can elect to leave the badge at the default if you like it, or you can experiment with other shapes.

You can expand the column with the badges to get a better look at what’s available.

You can also select a colour for your badge, from the bar above the badges, but again let’s leave the colour at its default white for now.

Step 4

Now we move to the left side of our church template.

Starting at the top of the template, you can enter all the relevant text for your flyer.

I’ve entered the text announcing the Bible Study and giving the location and time. Notice that my text is too large for the badge I’ve chosen. We will fix that in the next step

Once you’ve entered your text, you can keep the default fonts or select different fonts from the dropdown menu. I like the clean simplicity of Oswald, so I will keep it.

Step 5

Our next step is to adjust the various elements in the church template so that they fit perfectly together. You can click on each element of the design—text, badge, and symbol— and move it around the flyer template or click on the corners of an element to scale it up or down.

You should feel free to experiment as much as you like, knowing that if you’ve scaled and/or moved the elements in your church template and you aren’t happy with your work, you can simply hit the Reset Layout button in top right of the flyer creator and everything will be reset to its original position.

Step 6

Now it’s time to customise the colours in your template for a church flyer. You will remember that the elements we worked on—fonts, graphic, and badge—all have their own colour adjustments that we didn’t touch. We'll now go back to each one of them and experiment with the colour options provided to find a colour scheme that works for you. Alternatively, your church may have its own preferred colour scheme that you can use here.

I added a pop of blue to the badge to make it stand out and added a softer eggshell blue tint to the graphic and fonts.

Step 7

Look at your church flyer template as a whole and make any tweaks you feel are needed to make it just right.

Once you’re satisfied with your design, hit the Download button at the top of the screen and download your design for a small fee. Alternatively, if you regularly need to create flyers, posters, social media banners, etc., then the monthly plan may be the best deal for you.

And that’s it! Your customised professional church event flyer is ready to go.
