Microsoft: Windows 10 is already on 14 million computers

Mere 24 hours after the launch, Windows 10 is already installed on more than 14 million computers, Microsoft has announced in a blog post

The number could have been even bigger, but Microsoft is delivering the update to those who reserved it "in phases" to ensure the process goes smoothly for everyone.

"While we now have more than 14 million devices running Windows 10, we still have many more upgrades to go before we catch up to each of you that reserved your upgrade," Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft's corporate vice president, wrote.

For comparison, Microsoft sold 40 million licenses for Windows 8, its last major operating system, in the first month of availability in 2012.
