How to Create a Restaurant Flyer Template

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a restaurant flyer template in Photoshop. I will explain everything in so much detail that everyone can create the flyer design, even those who have just opened Photoshop for the first time.

What You'll Need


To recreate the design above, you will need the following resources:




1. How to Start Creating a Restaurant Flyer Template


First, create a new file. Go to File > New and set the Width to 4 in, Height to 6 in, and Resolution to 300 px/in.

2. How to Create Guidelines for Photoshop Flyer Templates


Now we're going to create guidelines for our restaurant flyer. Press Control-R on your keyboard to show the Rulers. Then, using the Move Tool (V), click and drag from the ruler to the canvas to create a new guide. Create four guides and position each 0.25 in away from the canvas.

3. How to Create the Flyer Template Frame


Step 1


In this section, we are going to create the flyer frame. Go to File > Place Embedded, select the first stock photo, and click Place. Then, set the Angle to 90° and the Width and Height to 33.63%, and position the photo as shown below. Name this layer Frame.

Step 2


Now choose the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M), and click and drag inside the canvas to make a selection of the area inside the guidelines. Then, go to Layer > Layer Mask > Hide Selection to hide the selected area of the layer.

4. How to Add a Logo Template to the Flyer


In this section, we are going to add a logo template to the design. Open the logo template AI file in Adobe Illustrator, make any customizations if you want, select the complete logo, and press Control-C to copy it. Return to the Photoshop flyer file, and press Control-V to paste it as a smart object layer. Then, press Control-T to open up the transform options and set the Width and Height of the layer to 32.76%, position it as shown below, and name it Logo.

5. How to Create the Restaurant Flyer's Content


Step 1


In this section, we are going to create the flyer content. Select the Frame layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Bold, size to 40 px, alignment to Left, and color to #527d24. Then, in the Character panel, check the All Caps option, and set the Leading to 250 px and Tracking to 100. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 308.6 px and Y: 638.04 px.

Step 2


Now select the Frame layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Regular, size to 25 px, alignment to Left, and color to #999b9e. Then, in the Character panel, set the Leading to 30 px. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 307.1 px and Y: 837.85 px.

Step 3


Select the Frame layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Semi Bold, size to 25 px, alignment to Left, and color to #999b9e. Then, in the Character panel, set the Leading to 35 px. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 273.45 px and Y: 888.26 px.

Step 4


Now select the Frame layer, choose the Ellipse Tool (U), click anywhere inside the canvas to create a new ellipse shape layer, and set the Width and Height to 550 px. Then, set the Fill Solid Color to #000000, Stroke Solid Color to #ffffff and Stroke Width to 20 px. After that, position this layer with the coordinates X: 765 px and Y: 815 px and name it Photo Background.

Step 5


Go to File > Place Embedded, select the second stock photo, and click Place. Then, set the Width and Height to 17.54%, position the photo as shown below, and name this layer Photo. After that, press Control-Alt-G to create a clipping mask.

Step 6


Now choose the Ellipse Tool (U), click anywhere inside the canvas to create a new ellipse shape layer, and set the Width and Height to 200 px. Then, set the Fill Solid Color to #527d24, Stroke Solid Color to #ffffff and Stroke Width to 20 px. After that, position this layer with the coordinates X: 1015 px and Y: 653 px and name it Price Background.

Step 7


Choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Semi Bold, size to 100 px, alignment to Center, and color to #ffffff. Then, in the Character panel, check the Superscript option for the currency sign shown below. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 1007.21 px and Y: 648.99 px.

Step 8


Now select the Frame layer, choose the Rectangle Tool (U), click anywhere inside the canvas to create a new rectangle shape layer, and set the Width to 725 px and Height to 700 px. Then, set the Fill Solid Color to #527d24 and Stroke Solid Color to No Color. After that, position this layer with the coordinates X: 437.50  px and Y: 1375 px and name it Info_Background_1.

Step 9


Choose the Ellipse Tool (U), click anywhere inside the canvas to create a new ellipse shape layer, and set the Width and Height to 100 px. Then, set the Fill Solid Color to No Color, Stroke Solid Color to #ffffff and Stroke Width to 5 px. After that, position this layer with the coordinates X: 200 px and Y: 1225 px and name it Phone Icon Background.

Step 10


Now open the icons AI file in Adobe Illustrator, select the phone icon, and press Control-C to copy it. Return to the Photoshop flyer file, and press Control-V to paste it as a shape layer. Then, press Control-T to open up the transform options and set the Width and Height of the layer to 15.51%, position it as shown below, and name it Phone Icon.

Step 11


Select the Info_Background_1 layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Bold, size to 40 px, alignment to Left, and color to #ffffff. Then, in the Character panel, check the All Caps option, and set the Leading to 40 px and Tracking to 100. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 433.36  px and Y: 1212.04 px.

Step 12


Now select the Info_Background_1 layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Regular, size to 30 px, alignment to Left, and color to #ffffff. Then, in the Character panel, set the Leading to 35 px. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 736 px and Y: 1341.78 px.

Step 13


Select the Info_Background_1 layer, choose the Ellipse Tool (U), click anywhere inside the canvas to create a new ellipse shape layer, and set the Width and Height to 100 px. Then, set the Fill Solid Color to No Color, Stroke Solid Color to #ffffff and Stroke Width to 5 px. After that, position this layer with the coordinates X: 200 px and Y: 1486 px and name it Address Icon Background.

Step 14


Now open the icons AI file in Adobe Illustrator, select the address icon, and press Control-C to copy it. Return to the Photoshop flyer file, and press Control-V to paste it as a shape layer. Then, press Control-T to open up the transform options and set the Width and Height of the layer to 12.95%, position it as shown below, and name it Address Icon.

Step 15


Select the Info_Background_1 layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Bold, size to 40 px, alignment to Left, and color to #ffffff. Then, in the Character panel, check the All Caps option, and set the Leading to 40 px and Tracking to 100. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 458.2 px and Y: 1453.04 px.

Now select the Info_Background_1 layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Regular, size to 30 px, alignment to Left, and color to #ffffff. Then, in the Character panel, set the Leading to 35 px. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 493.32 px and Y: 1529.88 px.

Step 17


Select the Frame layer, choose the Rectangle Tool (U), click anywhere inside the canvas to create a new rectangle shape layer, and set the Width to 325 px and Height to 820 px. Then, set the Fill Solid Color to #314a15 and Stroke Solid Color to No Color. After that, position this layer with the coordinates X: 437.50  px and Y: 1375 px and name it Info_Background_2.

Step 18


Now choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Bold, size to 40 px, alignment to Right, and color to #ffffff. Then, in the Character panel, check the All Caps option, and set the Leading to 40 px and Tracking to 100. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 982.18  px and Y: 1213.09 px.

Select the Info_Background_2 layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Regular, size to 25 px, alignment to Right, and color to #ffffff. Then, in the Character panel, set the Leading to 30 px. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 951.04 px and Y: 1390.15 px.

Step 20


Now select the Info_Background_2 layer, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T), and set the font to Bergen Text, font style to Semi Bold, size to 25 px, alignment to Left, and color to #ffffff. Then, in the Character panel, set the Leading to 35 px. After that, click anywhere inside the canvas, type the text below, and position this layer with the coordinates X: 962.6 px and Y: 1527.84 px.

6. How to Create the Flyer Border


Step 1


In this section, we are going to create the border for our restaurant flyer template PSD file. Select the Logo layer, choose the Rectangle Tool (U), click anywhere inside the canvas to create a new rectangle shape layer, and set the Width to 1050 px and Height to 20 px. Then, set the Fill Solid Color to #527d24 and Stroke Solid Color to No Color. After that, position this layer with the coordinates X: 600 px and Y: 85 px and name it Border_1.

Step 2


Now select the Logo layer, choose the Rectangle Tool (U), click anywhere inside the canvas to create a new rectangle shape layer, and set the Width to 1050 px and Height to 1650 px. Then, set the Fill Solid Color to No Color, Stroke Solid Color to #ffffff and Stroke Width to 20 px. After that, position this layer with the coordinates X: 600 px and Y: 900 px and name it Border_2.

How to Create Flyer Templates Using Placeit


Step 1


In this section, we are going to create a great food flyer using Placeit. First, choose the template—I've chosen Donut Sale Flyer Template.

Step 2


Now you can roll over any element if you want to move it or scale it. Using the left menu, you can change the text and its font and color. You can add another text box using the Add Another Text button, or upload your logo using the Upload Logo option. Using the right side menu, you can add more graphic elements using the Add Another Graphic button, you can add icons and change their color, and you can change the background color and add photos. Here is my result:
