How to Add Animated GIFs to Keynote (In 60 Seconds)

An animated GIF can be a nice touch to a presentation and they're easy to add and customize in Apple Keynote. A Keynote GIF adds a bit of animation to your slideshow, which can help add interest. Let's look at how to add GIFs in Keynote.

How to Quickly Add GIFs in Keynote

1. Drag a GIF onto a Keynote Presentation

I'm working in Keynote here and I want to add an animated Keynote GIF icon. I'm going to just drag-and-drop an animated GIF that's stored on my computer onto the presentation.

2. Adjust the Image

A Keynote GIF image can be adjusted like any other, and you click and drag to reposition it or scale it down with the corner.

Select a GIF to resize it or reposition it.

3. Set a Keynote GIF to Autoplay

If you want it to automatically play, make sure that you've got the Format option selected. Switch to the Movie tab. Untick the box that says Start movie on click to have the Keynote GIF play automatically when you start the presentation.

4. Define Whether the Keynote GIF Loops

You can also change if it loops or not from the Repeat drop-down menu. Consider turning off the Loop option so that it only plays through once.

Now as we switch to Presentation mode in Keynote. You'll see the animated GIF playing. It's really easy to add Keynote GIFs and customize how they appear.
