Bill Ford Jr.: Car industry on 'threshold of a series of revolutions'

Speaking at the Web Summit in Dublin, Ireland, on Wednesday, Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. said that, although the car industry has evolved in the last 100 years, he believes the industry is at the "threshold of a series of revolutions."

In the future, Ford sees the role of cars being "diminished greatly." His company, which was founded by his great grandfather — Henry Ford — 112 years ago, will have to "imagine transportation as a service." Rather than rely on selling cars and trucks to consumers, Ford wants to embrace mobility and use cars and other modes of transportation to make people's lives better. Read more...
