SAN FRANCISCO — Google is giving mobile payments another shot. The company formally announced Android Pay, its new mobile-payments platform on Thursday during its I/O developer conference.

Although the system is rolling out later this year around the time Android M becomes available, Google was light on details in its initial announcement. How it works
