Take a number: Huawei is latest tech company eyeing the Internet of Things

Chinese manufacturer Huawei is the latest tech company to jump on the Internet of Things bandwagon, debuting a new operating system of its own.

The company announced in Beijing on Wednesday the arrival of its Liteos software, which works with web-connected devices, according to the Financial Times

Liteos, which can be used on devices running Android, will allow third-party developers and manufacturers to connect and remotely control gadgets.

Huawei, which believes there will be more than 100 billion web-connected devices by 2025, will open up its software to developers so the company can "provide the connections, not the devices." Read more...
