Wil Wheaton: Gaming Has Always Been My Safe Haven

Tabletop gaming has always been a safe haven for Wil Wheaton.

The actor and geek icon said gathering around a table with close friends and family to play board games has been a part of his life since he was 13 or 14. It's a special bond he shares with his children.

"When my wife was going through a custody battle with our son's biological father, we were in court almost every day. It was completely stressful for all of us," Wheaton said. "We spent time gaming every night as a way to provide normalcy, and it helped me create strong bonds with my sons."

Whether it's through Tabletop, his YouTube show devoted to gaming, or his upcoming Syfy series The Wil Wheaton Project, Wheaton's goal is to make tabletop gaming — and by extension geek culture — accessible to everyone. Read more...
