Jawbone's Jambox Mini: Still Single, But Looking to Hook Up

Can a Bluetooth speaker be social? That is, can the technology on board help you discover or deepen a connection with others?

In the case of the Jawbone Mini Jambox, it just might — at least, now that Jawbone has released a software update that unlocks new abilities. With the update, a Mini Jambox will be able to scan for speakers just like itself. Once the two speakers connect, the owners can share playback duties and even play their music in stereo.

We've seen Bluetooth speakers with social and stereo features before, of course, but Jawbone's vision is incredibly easy to use. There's no need to launch an app or go through a tedious "pairing" process — just hold down the three buttons on top (play/pause, volume up and volume down), and the Mini Jambox is ready to hook up.
