Wall Street Cheers Netflix Price Hike, Customers Shrug It Off (For Now)

Three years ago this July, Netflix announced plans to split its DVD and streaming services into two separate subscription options, effectively hiking the price by 60% for those customers who use both.

The reaction at the time was swift and damning: Thousands of customers posted heated comments and complaints, slamming the company for the move on its blog and Facebook page. Several people created petitions on Change.org to urge Netflix to reconsider. Hundreds of thousands cancelled their subscriptions and the company's stock began a long decline.
