Popcorn Time Shuts Down, But Pirating Might Not Ever Be the Same

Popcorn_time

Popcorn Time, the sleek streaming app for pirated movies, has shut down, according to a post on the site's front page.

The app provided users with the ability to play movies through torrents with one click. Popcorn Time's interface led to comparisons with Netflix for its easy navigation and use of visuals.

The service gained popularity particularly outside the U.S., where movie restrictions can put serious limits on the availability of content. Although the app is now unavailable, copycats have already sprung up across the Internet.
