FedEx Expects 11% Jump in Cyber Monday Shipments This Year

FedEx is expecting to ship 22 million packages on Dec. 2, a.k.aCyber Monday, this year, an 11% increase over last year.

The figure, reported in The Wall Street Journal, is almost double the 11.5 million packages the company shipped on Cyber Monday in 2007. Cyber Monday, the first workday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday, was traditionally seen as the day that consumers got back to their desks and felt the pressing need to buy presents.
