Microsoft VP: We're Fine, Just Ask Charles Dickens

Frank Shaw has a message for Microsoft's critics: You're focusing on the wrong things.

Shaw, Microsoft's head of corporate communications, wrote an epic and unorthodox blog post late Tuesday in response to all the "writers and pundits" who suggest the company is on the decline. In the post, he references the classic movie Rashomon as well as research on confirmation bias and quotes from Charles Dickens' book A Tale of Two Cities ("It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.")

For those who don't want to wade through his post, Shaw's argument in a nutshell seems to be that the people writing off Microsoft are viewing the company through the wrong lens and incorrectly suggesting it is entering the worst of times as a result. Read more...
