Listen to Justin Timberlake's New Song From '20/20 Experience' Sequel

After announcing on Instagram in May that part two of his successful 20/20 Experience album would arrive Sept. 20, Justin Timberlake delivered that project's first single on Friday. Dubbed "Take Back the Night," the song continues JT's unpredictable string of musical announcements this year — often presented through strategic digital marketing pushes.

Until this year, Timberlake hadn't released new music since 2006, and
part two of the 20/20 Experience will come out just six months after part one debuted.

His re-emergence began in January, when Timberlake posted a on Twitter. The message teased his . He also unleashed for The 20/20 Experience on image-tagging startup Stipple's site. He used Myspace to , "Suit & Tie." (Note: Timberlake invests in Stipple and has ownership stake in Myspace.)

The online blitz helped spark Timberlake's comeback into a commercial success. "" featuring Jay-Z and globally topped iTunes' singles rankings by sales in its debut week. Meanwhile, The 20/20 Experience ranked number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart in its first week. The album's second single, "," has performed well. It peaked at number one on the Billboard's UK singles chart and number two on the U.S. chart.

Timberlake will also embark on the "Legends of the Summer" tour with Jay-Z starting this month. He'll also on Sept. 29.
