Nokia announces a new version of Here Maps with location-based augmented reality
At its Nokia Lumia 1020 launch event, Nokia's just announced a new version of its Here Maps app that's bringing location-based augmented reality. It'll let you pan around on the view finder and see descriptions and other info for stores and other landmarks, while also letting you scope them on a map at the same time. Nokia said that the app will even work without a data connection, "much to the regret of our AT&T partners." There's no firm date for Here Maps arrival yet, But Nokia said it'll launch on all its Lumia devices once its hits.
