Missouri Officially Recognizes June 30 as Social Media Day
Missouri has officially declared June 30 as Social Media Day.
Though many cities in the U.S. have officially recognized the international celebration, Missouri is one of the first states to issue such a proclamation.
Event organizer Gus Wagner submitted the proclamation request online to Governor Jay Nixon's office and after a few follow-up calls, the request was accepted in just two weeks.

Wagner says a proclamation for the entire state was important for Social Media Day celebrations to come. "We're trying to set up a series of events across the state to tie them all together to make it a bigger, streaming event," he said. Though the plans didn't come together in time for this year's event, Wagner said the proclamation will help organize statewide social media events for the future.
