Comedy Central Special Experiments With App and Vine

A new Comedy Central special is hitting Twitter and Vine next. And you won't have to pay a penny to laugh.

#ComedyFest will be a multipronged social attack geared toward experimenting with bringing old hits and potential new ones together online. The social special will begin April 29 and feature established talent on panels and via discussions, and (hopefully) facilitate the discovery of new jokesters through the #ComedyFest hashtag.

This all sounds like fun but the real play here seems to be the introduction of the free CC:Standup app, Comedy Central's new discovery service for standup videos. The New York Times says the app will be a a recommendation algorithm similar to the one used by Amazon.
