1. System Shock 2

Sometimes bad things happen to good games. System Shock 2, a space horror PC game, has been locked in weird copyright limbo for years, and is finally available for download on Good Old Games for $9.99.System Shock 2 was created by Ken Levine, and the BioShock series is considered its spiritual successor. The game has real scares, and also a compelling story that shouldn't be spoiled. While the late '90s graphics may be a little dated, this game is not worth missing for the first -- or 30th -- time.
