Virginians Cast Votes With Microsoft Surface Tablet


Just two weeks after its launch, Microsoft's Surface RT tablet is already set to play a small part in determining whether Barack Obama or Mitt Romney wins the U.S. presidential election.

GeekWire reports that Washington-based Democracy Live, a provider of electronic balloting technology, has installed the Surface in one voting precinct in Charlottesville, Va.

The tablet has been fitted with the LiveBallot app so users can mark and print out their ballot papers.

The company is using Microsoft's Windows Azure cloud platform to collect the ballot information and plans to roll out more tablets to other locations if this trial proves to be successful. That said, the firm added that a…
