Indiegogo Campaign Launched to Save Big Bird


During the first presidential debate Wednesday night, Mitt Romney vowed to cut federal subsidies for public network PBS.

"I'm sorry, Jim, I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS," Romney said to Jim Lehrer, the debate moderator and Executive Editor at the PBS NewsHour. "I'm going to stop other things. I like PBS, I love Big Bird. Actually I like you, too. But I'm not going to -- I'm not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for [it]."

With that statement, Romney implied that the future of PBS, Lehrer and Big Bird might be in danger. Internet users, and Sesame Street
