Apple Sells 5 Million iPhones Opening Weekend

Apple sold 5 million iPhone 5s in the first weekend of the device's release, the company said.

The company also reported that more than 100 million iOS devices have been updated with iOS 6.

The figures come after Apple reported last week that it had received 2 million orders for the iPhone 5 in the first 24 hours in which it was available. The total weekend sales dwarf those for the iPhone 4S. Apple sold 4 million of those phones in that product's opening weekend which itself was a record; it took Apple three weeks to sell the comparable number of iPhone 4s in 2010.
