Road tripping cross-country is an American cultural institution. Whether you're a veteran of the country's highways or it's your first time taking a road trip, a new web app can help you organize your itinerary and prepare to hit the pavement.

RoadTrippers, a web app launched Friday, lets you create custom itineraries while showing you the country's hidden treasures.

Husband and wife James and Tatiana Fisher created the app out of frustration with other travel apps, which only showed national chains and obvious tourist traps. The couple thought they could do better -- so they created RoadTrippers, hoping to inspire more adventurous travel.
