Today at Google I/O, Google announced Smart App Updates for mobile so users only have download changes to an APK, not an entire app over again to update. Smart App Updates are just 1/3 the size of a normal download so they save data and battery life, and are available from Gingerbread and above.Today it's also adding movie purchases, TV episode and season purchases, and magazine purchases to Google Play with partners including Disney, ABC, NBC, Sony, Paramount, Hearst, and Conde Nast. Apps for Jelly Bean are also encrypted before being delivered to a user's device, and develops can now use the free Google Cloud Messaging for delivering notifications.And to give you an idea of the scope of the Google Play media and app store, Google announced it now has more than 600,000 apps, over 1.5B app installs per moth, and over 20 billion app installs total.
