Americas Cup iOS Game Aims to Widen Yacht Racings Appeal

The America's Cup yacht race comes to Rhode Island Tuesday for the first time in decades with a World Cup Series of competitions that run through Sunday. But for a very niche sport, one question is whether anyone outside racing diehards will care.

The America's Cup Speed Trial game for iOS hopes to change that. It launched in late March and aims in part to raise awareness of and affection for the sport outside its traditionally wealthy, older and well-monied demographic before the big America's Cup final in San Francisco next summer.
