Graphic Design: Paper Craft Project Inspired by The Little Prince

Le Petit Prince is a graphic design project created and shared by Rafa Miqueleto. It was a commissioned work done inspired by The Little Prince movie. One of the coolest things about this project is the tools and materials used. It's a paper craft full of style. The details and the dimensionality added by layers of papers and folds is just beautiful. In addition to that, and the most amazing in my opinion, is the irregularities of the cuts. I have tried to do this type of work in Illustration and Photoshop, however it always end up looking to uniform or computer generated. Nothing can beat the real deal, it's almost a homage to graphic design projects from a different era, an era without computers.

Typography Design and Free Latina Essential Font

I remember when I started my web design career how limited our resources were. We were literally stuck to 4 typefaces and not more than 256 colors in the very beginning of things. Flash gave us the opportunity to experiment a bit more, but because it was closed and not friendly to SEO it was never the right choice. Thankfully today the web has evolved and we have a plethora of beautiful fonts, free and paid, available for our web and typography design projects. For this post I'd like to share this really cool free font called Latina Essential by the good friends over at Latinotype foundry.

Hands-On Android O Beta: My Initial Thoughts

After the announcement from the latest Android O at the Google I/O, an annual event for developers. Google released a Beta program that can give you the opportunity to try the pre-release version of Android and share your feedback. Its a Beta version so obviously, there might be bugs and errors from the launch version. But if you own one of the eligible devices, you can easily enroll your device and get started. I decided to give it a try with my Google Pixel and here are some of my thoughts.

Industrial Design Digital Detox Phone

Halcyon is a concept industrial design project created by Mike George. It's a phone to escape the digital world. The idea is simple, we all know that smartphones have completely changed the way we live. The average person spends 3.6 hours a day on their smartphones on social media. The smartphones got as connected, and yet people have never felt more lonely. Mike's idea is to go back to simplicity and reduce the venues where people can fabricate personas and end up missing out on what's important. Halcyon is a flip-phone. A gorgeous one and it embraces the trend of 'digital detoxing.'

App Design and UX: Onstreet Community Concept

We are checking out this app design concept that involves UX and motion for a community called: Onstreet. Designed by Seoul-based designer Jaejin Bong, it's an app based on a mixture of photo app and a shopping experience. So basically you're sharing your daily look and you can tag the items that you are wearing so others can collect that information to buy them. It's an elaborate take on mobile shopping and I think that the idea is quite unique. I am not personally the genre of person to take a picture of my outfit but there's a certainty of a market of users for this experience and I'll be intrigued to see how the future holds as the retail experience is slowing dying.
