Despite Dieselgate, Audi debuts most powerful diesel SUV on the market

Both Audi's 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter TDI diesel engines in the U.S. have been caught up in the Volkswagen Dieselgate scandal. Despite the fact that the German luxury brand or its parent company VW have yet to come up with a fix for the emissions-cheating engines, Audi is pushing forward with diesel power.

On Thursday, Audi unveiled the new SQ7 TDI, which, as it is quick to point out, stands as "the most powerful diesel SUV on the market."

The SQ7, high-performance variant of the full-size Audi SUV, is powered by a 4.0-liter TDI diesel V8 engine. This new diesel engine makes use of electrification (it has an electric-powered compressor that can spin its turbochargers) to produce 435 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque. This allows the seven-seat SUV to do 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds on the way to its electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Read more...
