Ball-shaped Samsung Gear 360 makes it easy to record your own VR videos

BARCELONA — Samsung wants to own the entire consumer VR ecosystem. The company already sells the Gear VR headset and the smartphones that power it; now it's going to sell a camera to help regular people like you and I record video for VR.

Looking a little like something out of a Pixar movie, the splash-proof Samsung Gear 360 is a tiny, ball-shaped camera that fits in the palm of your hand. It's similar to the 360Fly, but instead of just one lens, it has two.

Each aperture uses an ultra-wide fisheye lens with an f/2.0 aperture for capturing 360-degree video in low light. When you press of the record button on the dome of the camera, the two lenses start recording video with 195-degree angles. Read more...
