Overstock stops selling hoverboards amid safety concerns

Hoverboards are the must-have toy of the holiday season, but there's no end in sight for the controversy surrounding them.

In the latest chapter in the hoverboard saga, online retailer Overstock announced Thursday that it is discontinuing the sale of hoverboards over safety concerns. This follows reports of hoverboards catching fire in the U.S. and the seizure of 15,000 hoverboards deemed unsafe in Britain.

Overstock announced its decision late Wednesday and it will send safety notices to every customer who bought a hoverboard. Full refunds will be offered to customers who initiate a refund within two weeks of notice or delivery date. Read more...
