Tesla is installing rapid charging stations in Manhattan garages

Owning any car in Manhattan is a huge challenge, but electric cars impose their own set of unique difficulties.

Tesla announced a new plan Thursday to ease some of the stress with the installation of fast-charging stations for electric vehicles in 30 Manhattan parking garages. The new chargers can give a Tesla an additional 58 miles of range per hour of charge, meaning owners who live and/or work in Manhattan will never have to worry about being empty.

In Manhattan, where most people live in apartments, charging an electric car is quite a hassle. Whereas a Tesla owner with a private garage can simply install a Tesla-branded 240-volt charger and charge their car fully overnight, city dwellers are reliant on limited public charging stations.
