Ordinarily, his destiny would have been set on the morning in 2008 when he took his countrys toughest college placement exam: the IIT Joint Entrance Exam. More than 300,000 students attempted the test that year; only 8,652 qualified for a spot at one of the ultra-elite Indian Institutes of Technology.
