Large Fire Breaks Out at Rockefeller Center in New York City

A large fire has broken out at one of the buildings in Rockefeller Center, one of the busiest tourist locations in New York City. Eyewitnesses began sharing photos of the fire on social media around 9 p.m. ET.

Reports say the fire is located at a TGI Friday's restaurant in a six-story building about a block away from Rockefeller Center in Midtown. The official FDNY Twitter feed said the fire was in the basement at 604 5th Ave, between 48th and 49th Streets. You can listen to an audio feed of the FDNY dispatch here.

Firefighters and other first responders responded to the incident at about 8:45 p.m. While the fire was initially classified as a two-alarm fire, the FDNY elevated it to a three-alarm fire at 9:34 p.m. Read more...
