Germany Opens Investigation Into NSA Tapping Merkel's Phone

Germany's attorney general opened an investigation into reports that the U.S. National Security Agency bugged German Chancellor Angela Merkel's phone, according to multiple reports released on Wednesday.

Harald Range, Germany's top prosecutor, will go forward with a case against "persons unknown" after a report surfaced last October showing the NSA may have tapped the chancellor's phone.
