Twitter Reportedly No Longer in Talks to Buy SoundCloud

So much for that song and dance

Twitter has backed out of talks to buy SoundCloud, the popular online community for sharing and discovering music, according to a report Tuesday in The Wall Street Journal. The publication quotes an anonymous source who says simply "the numbers didn't add up."

Re/code and Der Speigel are also reporting that Twitter allowed an exclusive period for acquisition talks to expire

The news comes one day after Re/code first reported that Twitter was considering an acquisition of SoundCloud. The deal would likely have been Twitter's largest acquisition by far as SoundCloud most recently had a valuation of $700 million. Read more...
