Nobel Prize-Winning Author Gabriel Garcia Marquez Dead at 87
Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the Nobel Prize-winning author of One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera, has died, the AP reported Thursday. He was 87.
Márquez, a native Colombian who for three decades had lived in Mexico City, was reportedly in failing health, including a recent battle with pneumoniaThe AP did not list a reason for his death, which it attributed to a source close to the author and journalist's family.
Garcia Marquez spent eight days in a Mexico City hospital earlier this month, and his family acknowledged later that his health was "very fragile” after he went home to convalesce. Read more...
