VW Ski Mask Ad Appears Menacing, But Isnt

This Volkswagen ad milks a simple premise to maximum effect. Basically, the story is: Guy walks into a store, forgets he has a ski mask on and freaks out everyone in the store.

While the ad, from Deutsch, is entertaining, it also has a point: It promotes the new Volkswagen Convertible Beetle. Though it's a cold winter's day, the guy and his friends want to use the convertible as it's intended, even if that requires wearing ski masks. (Added bonus: In the background you can hear the "Trololo" song.

The spot comes after VW's 2013 Super Bowl ad has racked up more than 12 million views. The ad, which featured a white guy speaking in a Jamaican patois, fell in the middle range for USA…
