Innocence of Muslims Director Gets One Year Behind Bars

The filmmaker behind "Innocence of Muslims," a shoddily-made YouTube film that incited occasionally violent protests across the world, was sentenced late Wednesday to one year of jail for violating parole from an earlier conviction.

Mark Basseley Youssef, previously known as Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, accepted a plea deal wherein he admitted four of the eight charges against him, including that of using an alias, according to the Associated Press.

He was on parole after being found guilty of bank and credit card fraud back in 2010, charges for which he also served most of a 21-month jail sentence.
