Shazam Wants Your Smartphone to Enhance TV Experience


As consumers nationwide continue to engage with smartphones and tablets while watching TV to check everything from email to social networking sites, about 40% are surfing the mobile web to find out more information about programming.

U.K.-based Shazam -- the music-identification app with 250 million active users worldwide -- is working hard to leverage this need and expand its service to TV shows, commercials and movie trailers. The company is among a collection of other platforms such as Into Now and Zeebox aiming to connect mobile users with the TV experience.
