Reddit CEO: We Wont Ban Distasteful Content

In the wake of the highly publicized outing of a Reddit troll, the site's CEO says it won't ban distasteful-but-legal content posted by users.

"We stand for free speech ... We are not going to ban distasteful subreddits," CEO Yishan Wong said in a private post to moderators and administrators, according to a BBC report.

Reddit's stance on free speech and its darker subreddits filled with violent, misogynistic and racist content were thrust into the more mainstream public eye on Friday after Gawker published a piece exposing the identity of Michael Brutsch, a well-known Reddit user who operated with the handle Violentacrez.
