In one week, two boys turned a photo of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton checking her BlackBerry into a meme that made it across all forms of media. After Secretary Clinton submitted her own "Text From Hillary," the creators decided the joke had gone as far as it could.

Tumblr is like a directory of the Internet's inside jokes -- you can almost always count on any major trend to turn into a blog.

But a joke can only be carried so far. Meme-like Tumblrs, such as Texts From Hillary and Chicks With Steve Buscemi Eyes, became widespread in a very short amount of time --- then ended their runs almost as quickly.

Some sites, like Kim Jong-Il Looking at Things, have managed to carry the joke a little further. But eventually, a meme or site reaches its peak and will start to fade.
