What is the opposite of agile?
I've worked in a scrum team for a while, and later I saw other developer teams working in an old school way. Here are things I've noticed.
senior developers aren't approachable, working in silos. Many cases don't show up for weeks.
junior devs onboarding lasts feom 6 months to a year, and after that still have gaps in knowledge about product.
developers chase each other on chat for bugs introduced. Changes therfore reverted including improvements.
Developers work on ad-hoc tasks, interrupted by client support with nonsense issues.
client support has no understanding of iasues and can't replicate it befoee pasaing on to devs.
clients calling developers on the phone.
dev team manager coding
no version control. Backups restored, changes lost, task solved become unresolved.
tickets contain multiple tasks, often left halfway done and closed.
templates arent updated as per latest data changes, old code commented out, duplicate codes.
developers aren't aware what the rest of the team is working on.
I'm not saying this is bad, it's not wfficient. Junior take a long time to -if ever- understand the whole project and their skills remain unexploited. Validity of development can only be seen when task is completed, so if it's worthless, then all the time and work went down the toilet. The product isn't evolving, only the codebase becomes larger.
