Why developers need to know about Vim

Vim is a text editor that has been developed for more than 20 years now. It was designed to be used with a keyboard, and it is highly configurable.

Vim is an extremely powerful text editor that can be used for many purposes. It's an old-school editor, but it's still one of the most popular editors among developers. Vim can be used as a simple notepad, or as an advanced software development kit (SDK). It can be installed as extention for Vscode fans such as myself, as well as most other popular text editors.

Fair Warining. Vim has a steep learning curve and it takes some time to get accustomed to its interface. However, once you learn how to use it properly, you will find out that Vim is one of the most reliable editors in existence today.

My story with vim.

I was talking with a friend and he mentioned this tool called Vim. I had never heard about it before so I asked him to tell me more. He told me that it's a text editor and it can help you edit code faster. It's available for Windows, Linux and Mac.

I downloaded and tried it out on my laptop to see if it would be useful for me. As a productivity junkie, I always like to try new shiny tools as they come out as they might be helpful in my work! Well, Vim wasn't as easy as I thought but after some time of using the tool, I got the hang of it and now i feel obliged to share it!

Now, why did i say that developers need to know about vim? Productivity! It is insane how much more you can get done using it and altho hard to learn, every moment you spend getting to know it better will pay it`s dividents in forseeable future. In my personal experience, i am able to type approximately 30% faster!
Just imagine how much faster you would be able to ship your code. In conjunction i would also recommend using ai autocomplete assistant like tabnine.
