Amazon finally launches a Prime Video app for the Mac

Amazon finally has a native Prime Video app for macOS.

On Monday, the company started rolling the app out to customers, allowing them to watch Prime Video content in streaming mode or download it for offline viewing.

Other key features include multi-user profiles, picture-in-picture viewing (meaning you can watch the video in a resizable, floating window you can move around so it doesn't get in the way of other windows), search functionality, and the option to rent or purchase content via in-app transactions.

In some markets, viewers will also be able to watch live sports, such as the English Premier League and Thursday Night Football.

With the macOS app, Amazon now fully supports Apple's ecosystem of devices. Previously, the company had an iPhone, iPad, and tvOS Prime Video app up and running.

The macOS Amazon Prime Video app is available now from Apple's App Store, but you'll need to have macOS Big Sur 11.4 or above to download it.
