Twitter will now let you sign in with your Apple ID or Google account

New sign-in options for Google and Apple users.

It's a pretty minor update, but it could save you remembering yet another password.

Twitter will let you sign in with your Apple ID or Google account, the company announced Tuesday.

In a tweet from Twitter Support, you can see the new sign-in page for the platform, which includes the additional options. Notably, you have the choice between using your Google account on the Twitter app and in your browser, while Apple ID users can only use it on iOS, with web coming soon.

Apple's on a roll with sign-in services of late, launching a new feature called called Passkeys in iCloud Keychain in June, which allows you to sign up for online platforms using Face ID or Touch ID instead of using a password.

You'll also notice that the "Continue with Google" button when you sign in sits above the "Continue with Apple" one, which might piss off Apple, considering the company released developer guidelines in 2019 that suggest developers place Apple's sign-in button "above other buttons," and recommend the button be "the same size or larger" than other sign-in buttons.

It must be said that using a sign-in button is undeniably convenient, but it's important to consider issues of privacy and data-gathering around them too — in fact, you might want to think about using a password manager instead.

If not, the only thing to do now before you sign into Twitter next is remember or change your Apple ID password, or your Google one.
