Who among us has not at some point in time been shaken to their cores by the sheer sight of a read receipt?

I know I have.

The read receipts feature on iPhones — which, if enabled, notifies people when you've read their text messages — is, in my opinion, one of the most anxiety-inducing modernizations in the world of mobile phones.
