Google Cloud Print only has a year left on the clock

Wrap up those printing jobs, Google Cloud Print is closing up shop.

The cloud-based printing service offered through Google's various products like the Gmail app, Chrome browser, and Google Drive is ending Dec. 31, 2020. Starting in 2021, you'll have to switch to native printing options like a heathen. 

A support post with all the logistics of ramping down the printing service went up recently, as Ars Technica reported Friday. Google advises, "We recommend that over the next year, you identify an alternative solution and execute a migration strategy."

Cloud Print first started in 2010 as a beta with new features and updates over the years like shared printers and Windows support. A similar printing service from Apple, called AirPrint, is still up and running to wirelessly print from laptops, iPhones, iPads, and other Apple devices.
