Here's why the future of mobility is sucking the air out of low-tech conventional tires

Based on how much we rely on shared transport services (Lime, Mobike, Uber Jump) today, it's safe to assume the next steps will involve driverless vehicles. But how many of us really know how to change a flat tire?  

That's why Michelin and General Motors are betting on near-zero maintenance airless tires for such passenger vehicles of the future. The two companies are working on Uptis, an airless wheel structure that is puncture-proof.
