Google Assistant finally works with every major smart home brand

Google's annual I/O developer conference is almost upon us, and the company is already dropping announcements left and right. 

Today, we've learned that Google Assistant, the virtual friend who powers your Google Home, is now compatible with over 5,000 smart devices. That's a huge increase from the 1,500 it supported at the beginning of 2018. 

"The Assistant now supports essentially all the major brands," Google VP of Assistant and Search Nick Fox told Engadget. Google did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.  Read more...
