Happy Saturday, Facebook and Instagram are down

Users began reporting problems accessing Facebook and Instagram on Saturday morning, and after several attempts to access Facebook from various locations by Mashable staff, the site appears to be inaccessible as of this writing.    

The site disruptions are also affecting mobile users, with the following message appearing on some mobile devices trying to access Facebook:   

"Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."  

Users began reporting the same kinds of issues with Instagram around the same time (a little after 9 a.m. ET) on Saturday morning.  Read more...
